McPhee scores 26; Stanford women upset No. 11 UCLA 76-65

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Brittany McPhee scored 12 of her 26 points in the fourth quarter to help Stanford to a 76-65 upset of No. 11 UCLA on Friday night in a Pac-12 Conference opener.

The Cardinal (7-6) on Monday fell out of The Associated Press women's basketball Top 25 for the first time since the 2001 season, ending a streak of 312 consecutive ranked weeks. Stanford had lost three of four, including losses to Top-10 teams Baylor and Tennessee, and entered conference play with its worst 12-game start since the 1998-99 season.

Alanna Smith added 14 points and 13 rebounds for Stanford. Nadia Fingall chipped in 10 points.

Jordin Canada led UCLA (9-3) with 20 points. Kennedy Burke and Japreece Dean had 14 points apiece, and Monique Billings finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cardinal never trailed, and had a 12-point lead early in the second quarter before UCLA pulled to 32-29 at the break. Stanford led 48-46 entering the fourth quarter, and outscored UCLA 28-19 in the final period.
