Houston tops S. Florida 79-60 behind Davis and Brooks

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Corey Davis Jr., scored 15 points and Armoni Brooks scored 14 and Houston defeated South Florida 79-60 Thursday for the Cougars' third straight win.

Rob Gray added 11 points for Houston and Devin Davis had 10. Houston (11-2) now has won 10 of 11. South Florida (7-7) saw its three-game win streak come to an end. Justin Brown led the Bulls with 16 points, David Collins, 15 and Isaiah Manderson 10.

Fabian White Jr.'s, layup gave Houston an early 16-5 lead and the Cougars never trailed. South Florida used an 8-0 run and closed to three with Terrence Samuel's 3-pointer with 12:36 before halftime.

Later, White scored another layup and Houston was up 40-25. The Bulls trailed by nine at the break before Gray made two free throws for a 46-35 and the lead stayed in double figures the rest of the way.
