McNeese thumps Incarnate Word 85-62 in Southland opener

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Quatarrius Wilson and Kalob Ledoux combined for 39 points as McNeese opened Southland Conference play with an 85-62 thumping of Incarnate Word on Thursday night.

Wilson had 20 points with 10 rebounds and Ledoux added 19 points for McNeese (4-7) which has won three straight after dropping four consecutive games. James Harvey nailed three treys for 16 points and Jarren Greenwood added 15 for the Cowboys, who welcome Northwestern State Saturday.

McNeese shot 48 percent (29-60) from the floor while limiting Incarnate Word to 21-of-65 (32 percent) shooting. The Cowboys made 5 of 10 from distance while Incarnate Word made just 4 of 22 from beyond the arc.

McNeese sprinted to a 44-26 halftime advantage, limiting the Cardinals to 9-of-32 shooting in the first half. The Cowboys maintained their double-digit lead throughout the second period.

Christian Peevy led UIW (5-6) with 18 points.
