POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Balint Mocsan scored 17 points, including three 3-pointers, and grabbed seven rebounds to help Idaho State beat Youngstown State 86-62 on Monday night.
Geno Luzcando had 12 points, Jared Stutzman added 11 and Brandon Boyd scored 10 for Idaho State (4-5). The Bengals, who lost their first five games to extend their losing streak to 14 games, have won four in a row.
Mocsan made two layups during a 9-0 run to open the game and Idaho State never trailed. The Penguins pulled within three points before a dunk by Boyd sparked a 17-6 run that made it 40-26 when Gary Chivichyan hit a 3-pointer with three seconds left in the first half. Braun Hartfield's 3 to open the second half trimmed Youngstown State's deficit to 11 points, but the Penguins would get no closer.
Jaylen Benton led Youngstown State (2-9) with 13 points.
Idaho State set season highs for field-goal percentage (56.9) and 3-point field-goal percentage (57.9).
