Omaha never trails in 99-58 win over Cornell College

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — JT Gibson scored a career-high 21 points, Zach Jackson added 18 points to go with 14 rebounds and Omaha never trailed in a 99-58 win over Division III Cornell College on Sunday.

Omaha (3-10) shot 62 percent from the field, including 10 of 20 from long range, got 20 assists on its 40 buckets, and had a 45-23 rebounding advantage to deliver coach Derrin Hansen his 200th career victory.

Gibson's layup late in the opening half pushed Omaha's lead to 35-25 with 3:43 left before intermission and the Mavericks led by double figures the rest of the way.

Matt Pile had 16 points with 7-for-8 shooting, KJ Robinson got 12 points and Lamar Wofford-Humphrey had 10 points and 10 rebounds as Omaha won its second straight for the first time this season.

Cornell College, a private liberal arts school in Iowa, got 16 points from Jon Anderson, the only Rams player to reach double figures in the first matchup between the programs since the 1951-52 season, which Omaha also won.
