MEADOW, Millard County — A man is dead after drowning at Meadow Hot Springs, officials said.

Millard County Sheriff’s deputies and EMS crews responded to a report of a possible drowning, Friday evening, Millard County Sheriff officials said via Facebook Saturday. Witnesses told officials they had seen an individual, identified by police as Shane Stewart, 49, dive towards the bottom of one of the deep pools, but did not resurface.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they called for assistance from local SCUBA divers who were able to find Stewart unresponsive several feet below water.

Despite rescue efforts to revive him, Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shane’s family and friends in this time of tragic loss,” the Facebook post concluded.
