The Citadel hits 12 3s in 110-66 rout of Point

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Alex Reed scored a career-high 18 points with four 3-pointers, Derek Webster Jr. had a career-high 11 points with 10 rebounds, and The Citadel went on a 28-4 first-half run in its 110-66 rout of NAIA Point University on Saturday.

Tariq Simmons scored 16 points, Quayson Williams had 13, and Kaelon Harris added 10 with a career-high six assists for the Bulldogs (5-6). The Citadel never trailed, forced 31 turnovers and made a season-high 12 3-pointers.

The Skyhawks closed to 16-13 on Tyonn Stuckey's jumper, but Webster's layup kicked off the Bulldogs' big run in which Reed hit two 3s and Kaiden Rice and Tariq Simmons had one apiece. The Skyhawks scored nine straight, but trailed 54-31 at halftime.

Simmons scored five straight, Williams added back-to-back 3s, and The Citadel led 99-58 after a 22-2 run.

Stuckey scored 21 points and B.J. Brown had 10 for Point, which played it as an exhibition game.
