Wood, Betley lead Penn to 81-68 win over Howard

WASHINGTON (AP) — Caleb Wood hit six 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 26 points and Ryan Betley had a double-double to help Pennsylvania beat Howard 81-68 on Monday night.

Betley had 11 points and 12 rebounds and AJ Brodeur scored nine with 10 boards for Penn (6-4).

The Quakers trailed for most of the first half before a scoring the final 10 points to take a 32-28 lead. Zion Cousins converted a 3-point play to pull Howard within four points early in the second half, but the Bison went scoreless for more than six minutes and Wood's 3-pointer capped a 16-0 run to make it 57-37. Cousins made a layup to trim Howard's deficit to nine points with 3:28 remaining but the Bison would get no closer.

R.J. Cole had 24 points, Charles Williams scored 20 and Cousins finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds for Howard (1-8).
