NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — Matt Scott scored 28 points, Kahlil Dukes added 23 and Niagara rolled to a 96-74 victory over Alabama A&M on Friday.
Scott was 8 of 12 from the field and made 11 of 14 free throws. Dukes was 6-of-9 shooting and made three 3-pointers and all eight of his free-throw attempts. James Towns and Kevin Larkin added 10 points apiece for Niagara (2-3) in its home opener.
Arthur Johnson scored 21 points to lead Alabama A&M (0-5). De'Ederick Petty had 19 points and Andre Kennedy added 12.
Niagara never trailed and had an eight-point lead at halftime. The Bulldogs stayed close in the first five minutes of the second half, pulling to 50-44. Niagara answered with 17-9 surge and the Purple Eagles had a double-digit lead the rest of the way. Scott had 10 points and Towns chipped in seven during the stretch.
