WEST POINT — A West Point man was charged Monday with shooting and killing a man who had just slashed his face with a razor during a fight.

Robin William "RJ" Lundin, 28, is charged in 2nd District Court with murder, a first-degree felony.

On Nov. 5, Davis County sheriff's deputies were called to a report of a shooting at 3275 W. 438 North. When investigators arrived, they found the body of Colby Scott Barney, 30, of Salt Lake City, who had been shot in the chest, according to a Davis County Jail report.

Barney had been invited to Lundin's house, according to investigators. But witnesses told detectives that at some point, Lundin and Barney got into an altercation and "Lundin suffered lacerations to his face from a razor blade" held by Barney, the report states.

Lundin received 28 stitches, according to police.

After Lundin was cut, Barney began "surrendering" and put the razor away and held his hands out, the report states. Lundin then went into his bedroom and allegedly returned with a 9 mm handgun. He fired twice, striking Barney and injuring the hand of a witness, the report states.

Lundin "admitted to drinking heavily during the incident," police wrote.

Lundin's criminal history consists mainly of DUI, intoxication offenses and numerous traffic violations, according to court records.

An initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
