SANTAQUIN — A preliminary hearing was postponed Tuesday for a man accused of sexually assaulting two teenage girls at knifepoint.
Marcos Barajas, 33, of Santaquin, was charged Oct. 27 in 4th District Court with aggravated sexual assault, attempted sexual assault and two counts of aggravated burglary, all first-degree felonies; two counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony; tampering with a witness, a third-degree felony; and domestic violence in the presence of children, a class B misdemeanor.
On Oct. 23, Barajas entered a room with two girls, ages 16 and 15, who were watching TV, and "locked the door behind him before pulling a knife from his pocket," according to charging documents.
He then took what he believed was the only cellphone the girls had and "told them to shut their mouths or he would kill them," the charges state, and then proceeded to sexually assault both girls at knifepoint.
When he was done, Barajas took the cellphone and walked out of the house, police say. The girls locked the front door behind him and used another cellphone they had to call police.
Barajas allegedly attempted to get back in the house. But when he found the front door locked he went to the back sliding glass door and shattered it, according to charging documents. He then allegedly tried to get back into the girls' room but it was locked.
A police officer arrived while Barajas was still in the house and arrested him. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 28.
