CLEARFIELD — Even after he was arrested, a former Clearfield Karate instructor continued having a sexual relationship with one of his former teenage students, according to investigators.

Damian Tyler Fullmer, 20, was charged last week in 2nd District Court with five new counts of rape, a first-degree felony, and sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

Fullmer, who was already charged a week earlier with similar charges involving the same girl, now faces a total of seven counts of rape, nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, and two counts of forcible sodomy between his two cases.

A $500,000 arrest warrant was issued earlier this week and Fullmer was booked into the Davis County Jail on Monday. He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday to face the new charges against him.

Fullmer was originally arrested in April and accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl who was one of his karate students. He was 19 when they first met. Fullmer was accused of having sex with the 14-year-old and exchanging numerous nude pictures with her, according to charging documents. He was fired from his karate instructor job after his arrest.

But prosecutors say after Fullmer posted bail in April, he and the girl, now 15, continued their illegal relationship.

"(He) was aware that criminal charges would be filed in connection (with) that arrest. However, he continued to have sexual contact with the victim despite knowing this," new charging documents state.

The two started communicating via social media after Fullmer's release from jail, and then started seeing each other weekly, according to the charges.

"The defendant ultimately purchased the victim a 'burner phone' so they could communicate without her parents' knowledge. He also made copies of a key the victim used to sneak out of her home to avoid detection by her parents," the court documents say.

Between June and Oct. 13, the girl sneaked out of her house weekly to meet up with Fullmer to have sex, the charges state. During one rendezvous, Fullmer allegedly took her to a vacant apartment in Clearfield.

"The victim disclosed that the defendant would also pick her up from school during the summer when she was in soccer camp and engage in sexual activity," according to the charges. That activity allegedly occurred in Weber County.
