(KSL News) The Utah Shakespearean Festival is mourning the passing of its co-founder, Barbara Adams. She passed away in her home on Wednesday at the age of 76.
She and husband Fred Adams realized a dream when the festival was given Broadway's highest honor, a Tony award.
Most of Cedar City turned out to cheer their success in 2000, and at that time, we talked with them about their initial vision for Shakespeare on the lawn in 1962.
"I really didn't think it was a crazy dream. It seemed very normal to me. We just talked about it, and as far we were concerned, that was it," Barbara said.
The festival became a huge success, and condolences are pouring in from around the country.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the Cedar City 16th Ward Chapel. Barbara requested that instead of flowers, friends remember her with a donation to the festival.
