HURRICANE — A 12-year-old boy is recovering after breaking his femur and suffering open wounds to his leg when he became pinned between an RV and a Jeep Wrangler Sunday night, police said.
Emergency crews responded to a report of the incident shortly after 5:45 p.m., Hurricane police public information officer Tiffany Mower said. She said the boy was trying to help hook the Wrangler to the back of the RV when a relative got out of the Wrangler to hook the vehicles up but did not leave the vehicle in park.
The relative then went back to the vehicle and accidentally hit the accelerator, causing the Wrangler to lunge forward and pin the boy, who was standing between the two vehicles, Mower said.
Hurricane Valley Fire District crews were able to use Jaws of Life to help separate the vehicles and rescue the boy. He was then taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center with the injuries suffered to his leg.
