PLEASANT VIEW — Two people are in critical condition after a crash on Highway 89 in Pleasant View, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
The crash took place just before 11 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of 2700 North and U.S. Highway 89, UHP Sgt. Jacob Cox said. A SUV and a car were involved, he said.
A black SUV was traveling westbound on 2700 North to go through the intersection at Highway 89, Pleasant View Police Sgt. Corey Clark said.
A white car was heading southbound on Highway 89, and the driver of that car appeared to run a red light, Clark said. The white car collided with the SUV in the intersection.
A medical helicopter was called to the scene. One person from the white car was airlifted and another was transported by ambulance to a hospital. Both were in critical condition, Clark said.
The driver and only occupant of the SUV was taken to the hospital in stable condition with minor injuries, he said.
He did not provide identities for any of the people involved in the crash.
Several people stopped to aid those involved in the crash, including an off-duty emergency room nurse, Clark said.
"We always appreciate those people that stop and help to give aid," Clark said. "It makes a world of difference."
Crews from North Ogden, Weber County, Utah Highway Patrol, Harrisville, Weber Fire, Northview Fire and Ogden Fire assisted Pleasant View police at the scene, Clark said.
