ATHENS, Greece (AP) — AEK took a two-point lead at the top of the Greek league after beating newcomer Lamia 1-0 Sunday.
Lazaros Christodoulopoulos scored the winner with a penalty kick in the 81st, nine minutes after substituting for Tassos Bakasetas.
Lamia played its home game at the Athens suburb of Peristeri, because its own stadium is still undergoing renovation.
The result put AEK two points ahead of defending champion Olympiakos and PAOK. On Saturday, Olympiakos drew 1-1 at home against Asteras, and PAOK beat Panetolikos 1-0.
AEK hosts Olympiakos next Sunday.
Also, Panathinaikos beat Apollon 1-0 Sunday, while Larissa vs. Atromitos and Platanias vs. Kerkyra ended in scoreless draws.
Panionios plays at Giannena on Monday and can go level on points with AEK if it wins.
