(KSL News) A Utah woman received national honors today for her work on behalf of missing and exploited children.

The U.S. Department of Justice named Gina McMahon-McNeil the "Missing Children State Clearinghouse Coordinator of the Year."

She was honored for her dedication to teaching law enforcement officials and citizens about the Amber Alert system and other tools for finding missing children. She said, "This award was given to me. There are so many other recipients nationwide that would deserve this award, so I was honored to receive it."

In addition to the Amber Alert System, McMahon-McNeil also works to stop human trafficking and to get DNA and dental charts into national systems to help identify missing children and criminals.
