UNDATED (AP) — The football season gets underway today for most NFL teams, after Kansas City stunned the Patriots in the kickoff game on Thursday. Tampa Bay's game at Miami has been rescheduled for November because of Hurricane Irma. New Orleans at Minnesota is the Monday night game.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Indians will play for their 18th straight victory tonight against the Orioles in Cleveland. Right-hander Trevor Bauer takes the mound for the Indians, looking to extend his career-long winning streak to nine games in a matchup against Jeremy Hellickson.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Dodgers will try tonight to avoid losing their 10th in a row for the first time in 25 years. Rich Hill takes the mound for Los Angeles in the series finale against Tyler Chatwood and the Colorado Rockies. The NL West-leading Dodgers have one win in their last 15 games.

NEW YORK (AP) — Rafael Nadal meets Kevin Anderson today in the men's final at the U.S Open. The top-seeded Nadal is looking for his 16th Grand Slam title, while Kevin Anderson is in search of his first. At No. 32, the South African is the lowest-ranked U.S. Open finalist since the ATP began using computer rankings in 1973.

CHIBA, Japan (AP) — Colin Montgomerie has won the Japan Airlines Championship, the first PGA Tour Champions event in Japan. The 54-year-old Scot finished at 14-under 202 and earned $400,000 for his fifth victory on the 50-and-over tour.
