SODA SPRINGS, Idaho (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says a moderate magnitude 5.3 earthquake has rumbled through southeast Idaho. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The epicenter of the quake was located 11 miles east of Soda Springs, Idaho, and was also felt in Wyoming, and across northern Utah in Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake City, Draper and Provo.
MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (AP) — A Mountain Home man has been charged in the murder of a 71-year-old woman whose body was found in the trunk of her car last week. The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/2vTxFiY ) Scott Eugene Riggs was arrested Friday on a warrant for a single count of first-degree murder.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho prosecutor says Boise police justifiably used lethal force during last year's shootout that left the suspect dead and two police officers injured. Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs announced Friday that there was insufficient evidence to support a criminal charge against any of the law enforcement officers involved in the shooting.
CLE ELUM, Wash. (AP) — Wildfires are threatening thousands of homes and hindering travel in the Pacific Northwest. Officials says the region hasn't seen rain since early June and high temperatures have primed it for big fires. Authorities issued new evacuation notices Saturday in a large fire about 80 miles southeast of Seattle that's put about 3,800 homes at risk.
