CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — School performance ratings released by the Wyoming Department of Education show most Wyoming schools are meeting or exceeding expectations. State schools Superintendent Jillian Balow says across all grades and indicators, more schools are meeting expectations and fewer schools are not meeting expectations.

MEETEETSE, Wyo. (AP) — Biologists have released 13 more black-footed ferrets on a ranch where scientists more than 30 years ago rediscovered the slinky predators after they were thought to have gone extinct. One young ferret raised in captivity in Colorado didn't take kindly to roaming free Monday. She growled and refused to leave her cage, then attacked a stick used to prod her.

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming outfitter has pleaded not guilty to an animal cruelty charge related to his treatment of a horse. Attorney Dick Mulligan filed the plea Wednesday on behalf of his client, Forest Stearns, in Teton County Circuit Court. Stearns was cited for animal cruelty last week after an investigation into the Aug. 8 death of a horse owned by Stearns.

RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — Investigators say they haven't given up trying to solve the mystery of a woman who disappeared while jogging in the mountains of Wyoming 20 years ago this summer. Fremont County Undersheriff Ryan Lee says investigators suspect somebody was involved in the disappearance of 24-year-old Amy Wroe Bechtel in 1997.
