SALT LAKE CITY — Facebook will livestream three Utah State football games during the 2017 season as part of its first-ever package with the Mountain West, the conference announced Wednesday.
The three games include Utah State’s home opener against Idaho State on Sept. 7, followed by its Mountain West opener against San Jose State on Saturday, Sept. 23. The final livestream will conclude with its homecoming game against Wyoming on Saturday, Oct 14.
The announcement comes one year after Utah State was involved in the first-ever college football game to stream live on Twitter.
“We are continually exploring ways by which we can innovate and expand the visibility of our conference membership,” Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson said in an announcement on the conference’s website.
The conference’s package includes six games, beginning with UC Davis and San Diego State on Sept. 2, and features four nonconference contests including the New Mexico-New Mexico State rivalry game on Sept. 9.
The six-game package will be streamed thanks to a partnership with Stadium, a new multiplatform sports network, as part of its broader 15-game package with Facebook that includes nine Conference USA games.
Thompson said the conference is "excited" to partner with Stadium as they "offer our football product on the world’s most widely used social media platform.”
Utah State will open its season before a nationally televised audience when it travels to the famed Camp Randall Stadium to play Wisconsin on Friday, Sept. 1 — a game that will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 7 p.m. Following its game against Idaho State, Utah State will play at Wake Forest on Saturday, Sept. 16. at 1 p.m. in a game that will be livestreamed on the ACC Network.
The Aggies will then appear on CBS Sports Network when they play at home against BYU on Friday, Sept 29 and again when hosting Boise State on Saturday, Oct. 28. Utah State’s final regular season game will be played at Air Force on Saturday, Nov. 25 and televised on one of the ESPN Networks.
After winning 30 games from 2012 to 2014, the Aggies have finished with a losing record in each of the last two seasons and failed to make a bowl appearance in 2016. The Aggies were picked to finish last in the Mountain West during the conference’s media summit in July.
