SANDY — One man died Thursday after his motorcycle collided with a car Wednesday evening, Sandy Police Lt. Dean Carriger said.

Cameron "Dale" Hicks, 46, was riding with a female passenger when a car driving westbound on 9800 South turned left into the path of his motorcycle heading east. The car and motorcycle collided at 9754 S. Wasatch Boulevard around 8 p.m., according to Carriger.

Hicks was flown by medical helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center but passed away the next day as a result of his injuries. His 45-year-old female passenger remains in the hospital, but is in stable condition.

Both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, Carriger said.

The driver of the car, a 24-year-old man, was not hurt, but a female passenger in the vehicle had minor injuries.

Neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the crash, but police are investigating excessive speed as a factor, Carriger said.
