SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police are investigating after a body was discovered floating in a creek Sunday afternoon.

The body was spotted at about 4 p.m. by employees at a business near 135 W. 2950 South, South Salt Lake police spokesman Gary Keller said. When police arrived, they found the body stuck in some debris near 235 W. 2950 South.

South Salt Lake fire crews recovered the body with help from the State Medical Examiner's Office. Keller said the body was in "poor shape" but authorities believe it is a male.

The body has been sent to the medical examiner's office, where police hope identification and cause of death can be determined.

Keller added an identification may take some time due to the condition of the body.
