COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Missouri says prep basketball standout Jontay Porter has reclassified and signed as part of first-year coach Cuonzo Martin's 2017 recruiting class. The 6-11, 240-pound forward joins his older brother and father for what will be one of the most highly anticipated seasons in years in Columbia.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye are looking more like veterans with the New York Jets than rookies. The two young safeties were the Jets' top two draft picks in April and they've already impressed their teammates and coaches on and off the field. Both Adams and Maye are expected to start in Todd Bowles' revamped secondary when the Jets open the regular season at Buffalo on Sept. 10.

UNDATED (AP) — Former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel wants to remain in the sports world and possibly become a college coach. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner says he has thought about what he would do if he fails to resume his NFL playing career. He says he wants "to be involved in sports in some way, whether it's coaching, whether it's doing something like that." Manziel's comments came in an interview with Outkick the Coverage at the International Football Betting Conference in Costa Rica.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Women's wrestling could someday be an NCAA-sanctioned sport. A group called Wrestle Like A Girl and its partners say they have submitted a bid seeking emerging sport status from the NCAA. It's a combined effort from USA Wrestling, the U.S. Olympic Committee and other organizations to make women's wrestling a collegiate sport as quickly as possible. The bid will be reviewed next month.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas quarterback Austin Allen is the Southeastern Conference's leading returner in passing efficiency from a season ago. Yet, the senior was selected as the only a preseason third-team All-SEC quarterback last month _ behind Alabama's Jalen Hurts and Mississippi State's Nick Fitzgerald. Allen shrugs it off. He says he knows what he is doing and is focused on the season.
