SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah is quietly growing into a defensive back factory of sorts with the Utes continuing to send cornerbacks and safeties to the NFL with regularity, including four off the 2016 roster. The program has work to do to replace those four starters from last season but coach Kyle Whittingham is confident in the next wave.

BEND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State coach Gary Andersen has named community college transfer Jake Luton the Beavers' starting quarterback. Andersen announced his decision following a practice in Bend, Oregon, where the Beavers have traveled for a week of this year's fall camp.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — USC running back Ronald Jones II gained 10 pounds in the offseason, including three on top of his head. Jones' signature dreadlocks are back this year as he hopes to demonstrate the same electric running he displayed as a freshman. He cut off the dreadlocks last year and struggled early before rallying to rush for more than 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns.
