AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn coach Gus Malzahn boils his latest quarterback battle down to one determining factor: Who gives the Tigers the best chance to win? While former Baylor starter Jarrett Stidham seems like the front-runner, Malzahn hasn't counted out incumbent Sean White. Either way, the Tigers are banking on improved quarterback play.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina quarterback Jake Bentley knows he has much more to learn in his second year starting. Bentley and the Gamecocks open fall camp on Monday with hopes of an improved offense. Much of that is due to Bentley, way back on the depth chart when the season began. But he got to start midway through and led the Gamecocks to a bowl game.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky's Stephen Johnson faced a smaller media contingent a year ago, as might be expected for a backup quarterback. The waves of reporters that surrounded the senior on media day demonstrated how Johnson has surged from unheralded junior college transfer to being a leader of a Wildcats offense looking to follow up their first bowl appearance since 2010.
