VERNAL — One person was killed and three others were injured in a car crash about 25 miles north of Vernal Saturday afternoon, Utah Highway Patrol trooper Evan Kirby said.
Officials said a 2015 Nissan was traveling southbound on state Route 191. At the same time, a 2017 motor home was traveling northbound when the Nissan suddenly crossed the center median and struck the motor home. The driver of the Nissan died at the scene.
The motor home had four occupants. The driver suffered minor injuries, an adult female was taken to Ashley Valley Medical Center in serious condition, a 94-year-old female was flown to the University Hospital in critical condition and a male minor was not injured in the crash, officials said.
Traffic in the area was closed for approximately 30 minutes when the medical helicopter landed. Officials said alternative traffic was flowing but expected to be on the scene into late Saturday night.
