LOS ANGELES (AP) — Washington State coach Mike Leach has again put on a show at Pac-12 media days. This year's highlights included Leach's introduction of Cougars linebacker Peyton Pelluer and his "samurai hairdo" and a sharp rebuke of the lack of uniformity in scheduling among Power 5 conferences. There was also a discussion about whether a hot dog is a sandwich.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah opened fall camp with a brand new, fast-paced, pass-first offense led by first-year coordinator Troy Taylor. This is the first time coach Kyle Whittingham has stepped away from his run-heavy, grind-it-out scheme since taking over in 2005.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Willie Taggart realizes he only has the keys to Oregon's football machine because it broke down last season. So while the coach is eager for the opportunity to take charge of a marquee program, he clearly isn't afraid to make any major changes that he deems necessary to compete in the Pac-12.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California quarterback Sam Darnold was the brightest star at the Pac-12 Conference's two-day countdown to the upcoming season. Darnold is the odds-on favorite in Las Vegas to win the Heisman Trophy and is touted as the likely first-overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utes may have a new No. 1 receiver after former Oregon wideout Darren Carrington transferred to Utah. The university confirmed the senior is in Salt Lake City and will join the team but is not immediately able to be with the Utes on the field.
