PRICE — A now former parole agent in Carbon County is facing charges after prosecutors say he had sex with a woman he was supervising in 2015.

Samual Thomas Bowman, 35, was charged Thursday in 7th District Court in Price with three counts of custodial sexual relations and one count of tampering with evidence, all third-degree felonies.

Bowman was initially arrested in September 2015 after a confidential informant told drug task force officers that Bowman, who at the time was an agent with Adult Probation and Parole, was involved in a sexual relationship with a woman he was assigned to supervise.

Task force officers reported they observed the woman and Bowman together in Bowman's state vehicle in the Farnham Road area of Carbon County, south of Wellington.

Bowman was arrested Sept. 8, 2015, and booked into the Emery County Jail. He later posted bail and was released.

At the time, Bowman had worked for the Utah Department of Corrections since 2006 and was assigned to the probation office in Price. He resigned from the job on the day of his arrest, according to a Department of Corrections spokeswoman.

Bowman is scheduled to make his initial appearance in court on Aug. 28.
