LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Lamar Jackson remains a huge threat at quarterback, but whether he joins Archie Griffin as a repeat Heisman Trophy winner depends on the targets and protection Louisville and coach Bobby Petrino give him. Petrino certainly plans to use each day of fall camp to fill those and many other openings.

UNDATED (AP) — The traditional two-a-day football practices of yesteryear are a thing of the past. The NCAA approved a plan this year that prevents teams from holding multiple practices with contact in a single day. Officials are hoping the rule change reduces the head injuries that had become all too common this time of year.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina is scheduled to appear before an NCAA infractions committee panel next month in its multiyear and oft-delayed academic case. Responding to public records requests, UNC released a June 9 letter from the NCAA setting Aug. 16 and 17 for the hearing in Nashville, Tennessee.
