SOUTHPORT, England (AP) — Branden Grace has made major championship history at the British Open. The South African shot an 8-under 62 today, the lowest score ever in a major championship. The 62 also broke the course record at Royal Birkdale. And it put Grace near the top of the leaderboard, just two shots behind Jordan Spieth (speeth), who is now on the course.

MARSEILLE, France (AP) — Defending champion Chris Froome has virtually sealed a fourth Tour de France victory. The British rider from Team Sky finished third in today's Marseille time trial, increasing his overall lead ahead of tomorrow's largely ceremonial ride into Paris.

CHICAGO (AP) — Longtime rivals square off in Chicago this afternoon when Cardinals right-hander Adam Wainwright faces Cubs lefty Jon Lester. Wainwright is 4-0 with a 4.18 ERA in his last four starts. Lester pitched seven crisp innings Monday in a 4-3 victory at Atlanta.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Collin McHugh comes off the disabled list to make his first start of the year for AL-leading Houston tonight at Baltimore. McHugh has been sidelined all season with an elbow injury. Joe Musgrove will move to the bullpen to make room for McHugh in the rotation.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland right-hander Danny Salazar will be activated from the DL to start tonight's home game against Marcus Stroman and the Toronto Blue Jays. Salazar hasn't pitched since June 3 because of a sore right shoulder. Salazar is 3-5 with a 5.40 ERA in 12 games this season, including 10 starts.
