NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Christophe Killian of host Balboa Yacht Club took a 2-0 lead against Christopher Weis of the Del Rey Yacht Club in an all-Southern California semifinal of the 51st Governor's Cup International Youth Match Racing Championship on Friday.

Killian needs one more win to reach his first Governor's Cup final.

In the other semifinal, favorite Harry Price of Australia was tied at 1-1 with 18-year-oldLeonard Takahashi of New Zealand. Price, the 2015 Governor's Cup champion, is the world's sixth-ranked match racer.

Price rebounded from a penalty at the start of the first race and passed Takahashi on the last leg. Takahashi won the second race by a length and a half.

The semifinalists earned their berths based on results of a double round robin among the 12 skippers.
