NEW YORK, Aug 25, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A Forbes.com story which used a North Carolina research journal article to support advice that men not marry career women was yanked after complaints.
Executive News Editor Michael Noer caused quite a stir by citing a study in the journal Social Forces published by the University of North Carolina Press which said women are happier when their husbands are the primary breadwinners, CBS News.com reports.
"Guys: A word of advice. Marry pretty women or ugly ones, Short ones or tall ones. Blondes or brunettes. Just, whatever you do, don't marry a woman with a career," Noer wrote.
After it produced a heated response, Noer's article was removed by Forbes.com and replaced with a rebuttal by a female reporter from the Web site's Silicon Valley bureau.
Elizabeth Corcoran, who has been married for 18 years, calls Noer's missive "downright frightening."
