McCain:
-some government programs may have to be eliminated... examine every agency and bureaucracy
-spending freeze on everything but defense and veterans affairs and a few other important programs
Obama:
-each and every one of us to start thinking about how we use energy...
-search for more ways to obtain oil... including offshore drilling...
-develop clean coal technology...
-develop ways to store nuclear material.
-Ask the youth to serve... double the peace corps... expand the national volunteer programs
By the way, in reference to McCain's answer to this question, not thirty seconds before he answered, Obama just wrapped up a commitment to comb the federal government "line by line" and cut out everything that doesn't work.
