WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is painting James Comey as a virtual stranger, someone he didn't know well enough to demand his loyalty.
That claim is among a number of statements from the president scrutinized in AP Fact Checks over the past week.
Comey says he had more private conversations with Trump in a few months than he had in three years with President Barack Obama. This included a one-on-one dinner.
Trump recently repeated an off-base account of NATO finances as well.
He claimed that money is starting to pour into NATO because he's leaned on alliance leaders to pay more.
But money is not pouring in.
The real issue is how much NATO countries spend on their own military budgets. They agreed before his election to spend more.
