SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A dog that attacked Salt Lake City police officers yesterday was shot and killed.

Police were responding to a call about some teenagers trespassing at a golf course when the dog attacked them.

Officers say the animal's owner saw police near his home and came out to see what was going on. However, police say the man did not realize his dog was following him. The dog then attacked the officers.

Police say they fired one shot at the dog -- believed to be a Labrador-hound mix -- and injured it. However, the dog was later euthanized due to its injuries.

The owner was cited for having a dog at large. None of the officers were injured.
