WEST HAVEN — The Weber County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in locating the driver involved in a hit-and-run that killed an elderly man Friday night.
Harry Green, 82, from West Haven, was walking in the area of 4300 W. 4000 South around 10:45 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle believed to be traveling eastbound, according to the Weber County Sheriff's Office.
A car passed Green walking along 4000 South and the occupants were concerned because of the narrow shoulder and construction zone. A few minutes later, they returned to the area and saw Green had been hit and was lying off the side of the road. When deputies responded to the scene, Green was deceased.
Police said traffic investigators were able to locate debris from the suspect vehicle that failed to stop. Investigators believe the car is a late 1990s to early 2000s Dodge Durango or Dodge Dakota and may be silver or gray in color, but are still working to confirm those details. The car involved will have damage to the front passenger corner near the headlight and possible damage to the windshield, police said.
"Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family of Mr. Green during this difficult time," Weber County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.
