SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Department of Workforce Services says the state has a shortage of auto mechanics.

The agency says there are thousands of job openings for skilled mechanics.

To fill the gap, a government-industry partnership is sponsoring MotorFest -- a recruitment drive aimed at high-school students.

MotorFest will introduce teenagers to careers in automotive and diesel mechanics.

The festival will be held Oct. 7-8 at the Salt Lake Community College's Miller Campus in Sandy.
