SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korean defense officials say that their Northern neighbor has fired a missile, but it appears to have ended in failure. Officials say North Korea fired the missile Wednesday morning from the eastern coastal town of Wonsan, and the South Korean ministry says it's analyzing what type of missile it was. Earlier this month, North Korea fired four ballistic missiles that landed in waters off Japan, triggering strong protests from Seoul (sohl) and Tokyo.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is warning wavering House Republicans that their jobs are on the line in next year's elections if they fail to back a GOP bill that would upend Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act. A vote on the Republican plan is scheduled for Thursday, and GOP leaders have unveiled changes to the bill in an effort to get more Republicans on board.

BEIJING (AP) — A morning bathroom break at an elementary school in central China has resulted in a stampede, killing one student and injuring 20 others. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say reports of sexual assaults and domestic violence among the city's Latino population have plummeted since the beginning of the year. But they believe it's due to fears that people in the country illegally could face deportation if they interact with police or appear in court. LA Police Chief Charlie Beck says sexual assault reports have dropped 25 percent and domestic violence reports have decreased by 10 percent among Latinos.
