DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Kansas State and Mount St. Mary's have advanced to the full-bore men's NCAA Tournament after play-in games in Dayton. Kamau Stokes scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half of a wide-open game, and Kansas State pulled away to a 95-88 victory over Wake Forest in the First Four on Tuesday night. Junior Robinson scored 23 points and Mount St. Mary's held on for a 67-66 victory over New Orleans. They'll head to Buffalo to play defending national champion and top overall seed Villanova.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Malcolm Hill scored 25 points, Leron Black had a double-double and Jamall Walker picked up a win in his debut as the interim coach for Illinois, an 82-57 romp over short-handled Valparaiso in an opening game of the NIT. Hill made 7 0f 12 shots, including four 3-pointers and 7 of 8 free throws and became the fourth player to surpass 1,800 points for the Illini, who are seeded second in their bracket and are home against the Boise State-Utah winner next.

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (AP) — Roger Federer edged Steve Johnson 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) in a hard-serving duel at the BNP Paribas Open on Tuesday, setting up a fourth-round match against Rafael Nadal. Federer fired 12 aces — his fastest serve registering 131 mph — and never faced a break point against Johnson, who reached 136 on the radar gun and fought off all four break points against him.

NEW YORK (AP) — Russell Westbrook shot just 6 of 18 from the field after scoring 40 or more points in five of his previous eight games, but as usual, he was the dominant player on the floor even when his shot didn't fall. He had 25 points, 19 assists and 12 rebounds — his 33rd triple-double of the season — as Oklahoma City defeated the Brooklyn Nets 122-104. Victor Oladipo added 21 points for the Thunder, who won their third straight game.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Mitch Seavey won his third Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, becoming the fastest and oldest champion at age 57 and helping cement his family's position as mushing royalty. The Seward, Alaska, musher brought his dogs off the frozen Bering Sea and onto Front Street in the Gold Rush town of Nome after crossing nearly 1,000 miles of Alaska wilderness.
