NEW YORK (AP) — Villanova, the overall No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, is No. 1 in the final Associated Press college basketball poll of the season. Gonzaga and Kansas, also No. 1 seeds for the tournament, were second and third. But the poll and the selection committee disagreed on the fourth No. 1. Arizona was fourth in the AP poll, while North Carolina, the fourth No. 1 seed in the tournament, was ranked fifth. Kentucky was sixth, followed by Duke, UCLA, Oregon and Louisville.
NEW YORK (AP) — UConn has finished the season at No. 1 in The Associated Press women's basketball poll for the 14th time in school history. The Huskies were the unanimous choice from the 33-member national media panel on Monday, sitting atop the poll for the last 15 weeks of the season. They've won 107 consecutive games and most likely will be the overall No. 1 seed when the women's NCAA Tournament field is revealed tonight. Notre Dame, South Carolina, Maryland and Baylor follow UConn in the AP poll.
CLEVELAND (AP) — A person familiar with the decisions says the Cleveland Cavaliers will sign free agent forward Larry Sanders. The 6-foot-11 Sanders hasn't played since 2015 but should add a shot-blocking interior presence to the Cavs. Cleveland has been looking to add another frontcourt player after center Andrew Bogut broke his left leg last week just 58 seconds after taking the court for the first time with the defending champs.
CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — The Pittsburgh Penguins are paying a visit to Calgary. Earning two points against the Flames tonight would vault the Pens over the Washington Capitals for first place in the Metropolitan Division and the overall league lead. Calgary is third in the Pacific Division and looking to further solidify its playoff position. Two other teams vying for the top spot in the formidable Metro are in action tonight, with the New York Rangers hosting Tampa Bay and the Columbus Blue Jackets in Philadelphia.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with quarterback Nick Foles. The 28-year-old Foles returns to the team that drafted him and where he had his most success. He went to the Pro Bowl after having one of the best statistical seasons in NFL history in 2013. Foles will be Carson Wentz's backup.
