NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Tyler Jones scored 23 points, Logan McIntosh hit the game-winning layup with 12 seconds to go, and No. 5 Maryland-Eastern Shore beat No. 4 Hampton 68-66 in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday night.

The Hawks move to the semifinals against top seed North Carolina Central on Friday. Hampton had two final shots, but Lawrence Cooks missed a 3-pointer and Trevond Barnes missed the follow.

Maryland-Eastern Shore's (14-19) win avenges its regular season loss to the Pirates.

The Hawks led 53-44 with 12:34. Hampton then proceeded on a 12-2 run for a 56-55 lead with 6:52 to go, and the game remained close the rest of the way. A Devon Oakley layup for the Pirates tied the game for a final time at 66 with 41 seconds left, but after a Hawks timeout McIntosh found room to answer with a layup of his own to seal the win.

Bakari Copeland scored 17 points for Maryland-Eastern Shore.

Jermaine Marrow led Hampton (14-16) with 19 points.
