MILLCREEK — A woman who was critically injured in an accident Sunday later died from her injuries and was identified Thursday morning.

Unified police identified the victim as 65-year-old Vicki Holbrook and said she died Sunday evening from injuries sustained in the accident. Holbrook was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on 500 East around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. She was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident and was attempting to cross 500 East just south of the intersection at 3900 South, according to police.

Unified police said the driver likely didn’t see Holbrook because the area was not well-lit and stormy weather may have contributed to low visibility in the area.

Joshua Holbrook, the victim's son, said in an email that she was "returning a few movies" a short distance from her home when she was hit.

"If you knew her she would rather walk (a) block and save on gas. … She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and my very best friend … and was loved by us all so very, very much," he said.

Joshua Holbrook has set up a GoFundMe site* dedicated to raising money for the family's funeral expenses.
