MILLCREEK — A woman was hospitalized in critical condition Sunday after being hit by a car near 500 East and 3900 South.

Unified Police Lt. Bill Robertson said the woman was not in a crosswalk when she attempted to cross 500 East just south of the intersection at 3900 South. The driver of the car, which was headed South on 500 East, likely didn't see the woman before hitting her, Robertson said.

At 6:30 p.m., when the incident occurred, it was dark and the area was not well-lit, Robertson said. Stormy weather likely contributed to low visibility in the area, as well.

The woman was not identified by police Sunday night. The incident remains under investigation.
