UNC-Greensboro beats Wofford 77-73 in SoCon semifinal

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Diante Baldwin scored 22 points, Francis Alonso added 17, and top-seeded UNC-Greensboro rallied to beat fifth-seeded Wofford 77-73 in Sunday's Southern Conference Tournament semifinal.

The Spartans (25-8) advance to Monday's championship against third-seeded ETSU (26-7), which beat No. 7 Samford (21-6) 81-72 on Sunday.

Trailing by four at halftime, UNCG rallied on a 12-2 run to lead 52-47 on James Dickey's dunk with 15:29 to play and pulled ahead by nine, 62-53, on Demetrius Troy's free throw with 9:53 to. Wofford closed to 66-65 on Fletcher Magee's free throw with 5:51 to play, then to 71-70 with 1:54 left after he hit another from the stripe. RJ White dunked, UNCG made three free throws, and the Spartans led 76-70 with 13 seconds left.

Wofford closed to 76-73 on Magee's 3, but got no closer. Baldwin iced it with a free throw with seven seconds left.

Marvin Smith scored 13 for the Spartans, who outscored the Terriers 42-26 in the paint and outrebounded them 36-26.

Magee hit four 3s and scored 22 points for Wofford (16-17).
