Long Beach St. pulls away from Hawaii for an 84-75 win

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Temidayo Yussuf made all nine of his field-goal attempts and finished with 23 points, Roschon Prince had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Long Beach State beat Hawaii 84-75 on Saturday night.

After Sheriff Drammeh's jumper brought Hawaii to within 65-64, Long Beach State (14-18, 9-7 Big West) went on a 16-4 run and led 81-68 on Prince's jumper with 1:53 remaining. The 49ers led 45-39 at halftime.

Long Beach State moved a game ahead of the Rainbow Warriors, who finished fifth in the conference standings. The NCAA announced on Friday that Hawaii (14-15, 8-8) won its appeal to play in the Big West Conference Tournament.

Noah Blackwell scored 17 points and Justin Bibbins added 12 for Long Beach State. The 49ers shot 54 percent (32 of 59) from the field and outscored Hawaii 44-18 in the paint.

Noah Allen led Hawaii with 21 points, Leland Green added 14, Drammeh scored 12 and Gibson Johnson 10.
