FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Brandon Goodwin scored 28 points and top-seeded Florida Gulf Coast defeated Kennesaw State 74-62 on Thursday night, sending the Eagles into the Atlantic Sun Tournament championship game.

The Eagles (25-7), the defending conference tournament champions, will play No. 3 seed North Florida in the title game on Sunday.

Demetris Morant added 14 points and Marc-Eddy Norelia 10 points and 10 rebounds for FGCU, which won its sixth straight and defeated the Owls (14-18) for the 14th consecutive time.

Kendrick Ray made four 3-pointers and scored 27 points for the Owls. Nick Masterson added 16 points.

FGCU made only 3 of 15 from the arc but still shot 54 percent, outscoring the Owls 54-26 in the paint.

The Eagles scored the game's first six points and never trailed, but they didn't break away until a 16-5 run, with seven points from Goodwin, which left them ahead by 17 midway through the second half. The lead remained in double figures.
