The Top Twenty Five teams in The Associated Press expanded college football preseason poll, with first-place votes in parentheses, 2005 records, points based on 25 points for a first place vote through one point for a 25th place vote, final ranking, record vs. top 25 teams at time of game, record of opponents played, and extra points:
