BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit by environmental groups involving a wolf- and coyote-shooting contest in Idaho as part of a settlement agreement that requires federal officials to notify the groups if another contest is planned. The agreement follows several years of court skirmishes between the groups and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management involving Idaho for Wildlife's Predator Hunting Contest.
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Environmental and fishing groups sued the federal government on Thursday to provide cooler water for salmon in the Columbia River system. The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Seattle against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Scott Pruitt, President Donald Trump's choice to lead the agency.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho House panel has killed a bill aimed at banning lucrative video gambling at tribal casinos in Idaho. The Spokesman-Review reports tribal members had warned that the proposed law would violate contracts between the tribes, state and federal government.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A former Blackfoot policeman and high school resource officer will spend two days in jail for stealing thousands of prescription painkillers from a drug drop box. The Post Register reports that Paul Hardwicke pleaded guilty on Wednesday to misdemeanor counts of possession of a legend drug without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and two years of probation, but 178 days of the sentence were suspended.
