He's tweeted his criticism of a federal judge in Seattle who suspended enforcement of Trump's refugee and immigration ban from seven predominantly Muslim countries. Trump calls U.S. District Judge James Robart's ruling "a terrible decision."
WASHINGTON (AP) — The federal government wants an emergency stay of a judge's order that temporarily blocks the Trump administration's immigrant and refugee travel ban. The Justice Department intends to file its appeal with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals tonight. The filing will ask the court to lift Friday's order from a federal judge in Washington state. The administration suspended enforcement of the travel ban after the judge's order.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Visa holders from seven majority-Muslim countries affected by President Donald Trump's travel ban are hurrying to board U.S.-bound flights following a federal judge's order temporarily blocking the ban. Those who could travel immediately are being urged to do so because of uncertainty over whether the Justice Department would be granted an emergency freeze of the order issued Friday.
PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Vice President Mike Pence is pledging that Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch will join the nation's highest court "one way or the other." In a speech to the Federalist Society in Philadelphia today, Pence promised to "work with the Senate leadership to ensure that Judge Gorsuch gets an up-or-down vote on the Senate floor — one way or the other."
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say they've made arrests for a 1993 apartment building fire that killed 10 people, including seven children. An LAPD spokesman says several arrests were made recently and the people remain jailed. Police plan to hold a news conference Monday. Investigators found smoke alarms weren't working and fire doors were propped or nailed open. Most of the residents were poor immigrants from Central America.
